So Just Who is Lily?
I’m Lily Bishop, married with 2.3 kids. The .3 are the cat and several fish housed in two aquariums.
I believe in happily ever after, although sometimes it takes us a while to get there.
I write contemporary romance, hopefully about strong, educated women who stumble into men who join them in new adventures and create a life together. I strive for female leads who, instead of being completed by their man, create new lives together.
Every romance novelist returns to the same themes, and for me it’s the idea of the woman being taken and forced to go somewhere against her will. Why that is, I don’t know. I’m sure Dr. Freud would write a series of papers on me if he ever met me. It may not be the main focus of the book, but it will be there. Yes, I’m grinning right now.
My heroes aren’t bad and they are not criminals. But sometimes they do the wrong thing for the right reason. I don’t write about rape or non-consensual sex, so you don’t have to worry about that from me. My heroes aren’t abusive. But they are very much in control. If you stumble across a little bit of bondage, don’t be surprised, but that won’t ever be my main theme. What’s a few neckties among friends, right?
